This is contrasted with James MacMillan's startlingly powerful contemporary interpretation of three Tenebrae Responsories, setting texts usually sung during the days leading up to Easter. The programme also includes three settings of the Crucifixus by Antonio Lotti, including the famous version for 8 voices which ends the concert. Plus the BBC Symphony Orchestra continue their focus this week on the music of Michael Tippett, with his Baroque-inspired Handel Fantasia. Presented by Katie Derham and Richard Coles.
