Prom 57 - Part 120080828From the Royal Albert Hall, London. Presented by Andrew McGregor

The first of two Proms given by the visiting New York Philharmonic and its music director Lorin Maazel. They unveil a joint commission with the BBC by the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steven Stucky, which the composers say 'celebrates the brilliance of the New York Philharmonic musicians, both singly and collectively'. This is followed by Gershwin's jazz-inspired Piano Concerto, with soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
