Dame Julia Mary Walters DBE, known professionally as Julie Walters, is celebrating her 75th birthday with a phenomenal list of outstanding performances on stage and the big and small screen.
In Dame Julie’s many decades of BBC interviews and appearances, we will hear about her family and early life in Birmingham, her first career in nursing, followed by her debut at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool, where she met Alan Bleasdale and Willy Russell, who would change her life with roles in Boys from the Blackstuff and Educating Rita. Film appearances followed in Buster, Billy Elliot, Harry Potter, Calendar Girls, Mamma Mia, Paddington and Wild Rose, as well as portrayals of Mo Mowlam, Mary Whitehouse and the mother of the main character in G.B.H. All these roles are discussed.
