As a tribute to the great John Peel, who died ten years ago, a rare chance to hear highlights of one of his Radio 1 programmes from 1968.

John introduces session tracks from Leonard Cohen, Tim Rose and the John Dummer Blues Band. He also presents tracks from the likes of Traffic, Earth Opera and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, and leaps to the defence of the Doors.

The programme was first broadcast on Radio 1 on 11th August 1968.

John introduces the first Undertones session to be recorded at the BBC's Maida Vale studios, and admits that he doesn't know how to pronounce Feargal Sharkey's name.

John shares his thoughts on the death of Sid Vicious, and presents tracks from the likes of the Skids, Israel Vibration, Kevin Coyne and Bo Diddley.

The programme was first broadcast on 5th February 1979.

John presents session tracks from Killing Joke and New Order, as well as tracks from the Psychedelic Furs, Splodgenessabounds, Pigbag, John Lee Hooker, as well as his 'favourite UB40 track to date'!

The programme was first broadcast on Radio 1 on 14th May 1981, when it was recorded at home by Mike Dick, who kindly passed on a copy to the BBC Archive.
