The 40th Anniversary Of Woodstock

American singer-songwriter John Sebastian marks the 40th anniversary of one of the most legendary events of the hippie movement. Featuring contributions from some of the musicians who were there including Richie Havens, Carlos Santana, Pete Townshend and Joni Mitchell, plus previously unreleased tracks recorded at Woodstock by Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Grateful Dead and Joe Cocker; this documentary sheds a light on the celebrated festival.

Generally regarded as the last major event of the hippie era, Woodstock has become idealized in American popular culture as the festival where nearly half a million 'flower children' came together to celebrate the counter culture. At the time, it held the record for the largest music audience in the world.

Original festival organizers Artie Kornfeld and Michael Lang, along with Academy Award winning director Michael Wadleigh, talk about their memories of the festival and members of Santana, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Canned Heat and The Grateful Dead reveal their Woodstock highlights, interspersed with tracks by headline artists at the festival.

The 40th Anniversary of Woodstock is produced by Des Shaw, who also produced the Monterey 40th Anniversary for Radio 2.
