Unseen China

Peter White travels east to meet ordinary Chinese people, caught up in extraordinary events and whose stories would otherwise go unheard.

Peter meets Xiao Yuan, a 30-something migrant worker forced to live in Beijing in order to support her two children.

Peter travels with her almost 1000 miles, back to her village in the countryside, where she is reunited with her son and daughter whom she has not seen for two years.

The subsistance farmers on the Inner Mongolian border are amongst the poorest people in the world, untouched as yet by China's economic miracle.

In the last of the series Peter White meets Niu Rui, who left his father's farm to earn money for medicine to save his mother's life, but returned with one foot on the professional ladder.
