February 1899. Oxford Town Hall is packed to the rafters. Hundreds have come to the founding meeting of Ruskin College, a radical new experiment in the education of the working man. 100 years on, Steve Richards, political editor of the New Statesman, asks if there is still a place for an Oxford College dedicated to worker's education, in the age of New Labour.
