In the West Bank, Barbara Plett follows a team from the Palestine Red Crescent Society, the Palestinian ambulance service.

At the same time, Richard Miron follows a team from Magen David Adom (Red Star of David), the Israeli ambulance service, in Jerusalem.

The programme moves swiftly between the two reporters as they accompany the crews in moments of tension and drama, as well as during the quieter periods when they are waiting for a call.
