Also making an appearance in the show are some of the acts who appeared at the festival, that we at BBC Radio 2 have been championing this year, including: Bellowhead, Caro Emerald, Imelda May, The Pierces and Jonathan Jeremiah.

The 'festival in a day' features Tom Jones, Jessie J, Status Quo, Paloma Faith and more.

Sir Tom Jones headlines Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park, as the station's "festival in a day" returns for 2012.

Jo Whiley and Simon Mayo host seven hours of live coverage featuring performances from BBC Sound of 2011 winner Jessie J, British rockers Status Quo, Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall, London songstress Paloma Faith, Scottish funksters Average White Band and hot new talent Emeli Sandé.

Also confirmed to perform are American country music stars The Band Perry and Norwegian band Katzenjammer.

Last year, over 25,000 music fans packed into London's Hyde Park to hear artists including Chic, Lenny Kravitz, as well as Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

This year's concert will be available to watch live online, with highlights also available on the BBC Red Button in the following week.

BBC Radio 2 stages its 4th annual Festival in a Day. Ken Bruce (from 1pm), Jo Whiley (from 4pm) and Simon Mayo (from 7pm) bring you all the action from back stage whilst a dizzying array of Radio 2 personalities including Jeremy Vine, Terry Wogan, Michael Ball, and Janice Long entertain the crowd from the stage and introduce the musical artists.

The music this year comes from 80s legends, Simple Minds, jazz great and Radio 2 presenter, Jamie Cullum, and Scottish popsters, Texas. Also appearing are Jack Johnson, Manic Street Preachers, Josh Grobin, and James Blunt.

The evening is capped off by Motown Legend, Smokey Robinson, responsible for such classic pop hits as Tears of the Clown and I Second That Emotion.
