The Page Turners

This unusual, one-off feature looks at the professional life, hopes, mistakes, failures, stresses and musical loves of that most invisible of musician's aides: the professional page turner. These are the people whose job description is deceptively simple: to turn the music pages of the manuscript during a live performance.
However, as listeners hear from several professional page turners, there is far more to the job than meets the eye. In this thoughtful and sometimes very funny feature, the turners recount their highs, near-misses and disasters and invite listeners to consider this curious, absolutely unique profession that is an invisible fixture of concert performances the world over.
