One of the driving forces of contemporary Scottish traditional music is Greentrax Recordings of East Lothian, a fiercely independent label which marks 20 years in the business this year.
Mike celebrates two decades of Greentrax records with a selection from the label's remarkable catalogue, which spans a diverse roster from gritty singer Dick Gaughan to Cuban/Scottish dance band Salsa Celtica to traditional pipe bands as well as developing a reputation for spotting up-and-coming talent.
Featured artists include Ceolbeg (with vocals from the late, great Davy Steele) performing Farewell Tae the Haven and twin sisters Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley who hail from the Orkney Islands and play beautiful fiddle and guitar tunes. Mike's pick is The Ba' Rag from the Greentrax commemorative three-cd box set Scotland: The Music and the Song.
Plus there's Mike's usual impeccable selection of the best in folk, roots and acoustic music including news of artists currently on tour and the latest album releases.
