Newlyweds George and Kate find themselves locked out of their new flat.

Richard Briers and Prunella Scales star as newlyweds, in the 1960's BBC comedy that brought the pair to prominence.

Originating on BBC TV, it was adapted for radio version due to its popularity. The sitcom charts their domestic and relationship trials, tribulations and stresses, in addition to George's troubles at the office and their first baby.

In this opening episode the young, newly-married couple Kate and George Starling return to their first home together.

A decade later, Richard Briers went on to play Tom Good in The Good Life and Prunella Scales went on to star as Sybil in Fawlty Towers. They remained friends until Richard Briers' death in 2013.

First broadcast on the BBC Light Programme in May 1965.

The only surviving BBC radio episode of the 1960s sitcom based on the mutual love and mistrust of two newly-weds. Richard Briers starred as George and Prunella Scales as Kate. Marriage Lines began life with a BBC TV pilot in 1961 followed by five TV series and two series for radio.

In this episode - originally broadcast on the BBC Light Programme on 11th June 1965 at 8pm - Kate decides she must get a job, as George is spending too much money. But will he be happy with the position she finds? The series writer was Richard Waring and the producer Charles Maxwell
