In The Bin

Three women describe the time they spent in asylums in the 1960s and 1970s - that now exist only in their memories.

A 13-year-old-girl suffering from epilepsy is told she'll have to go to hospital for a while to 'have her treatment sorted'.

Later she's told that the hospital is Tonevale Asylum - a large Victorian establishment known locally as 'the loony bin' and the butt of jokes in her school playground.

The short stay became 17 years.
