Kenya is known for many things - but snow and ice sculpting is not something that immediately comes to mind.

Peter Walala, a talented young Kenyan sculptor, had never even seen snow until his friend Michael Kaloki persuaded him to travel to Canada to take part in a competition there.

Now they are dreaming of entering the snow and ice sculpting competitions at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.

Ruth Evans follows their progress and preparations, and finds out what makes them want to turn their back on the tropical sun and endure the freezing temperatures and frozen fingers to pursue this unusual art form.
