In the 1960s and 70s, thousands of patients at asylums throughout the country were given massive doses of the hallucinogenic LSD.

It was thought the drug could act as a shortcut to psychotherapy - unlocking the mind quicker.

It soon became clear the controversial treatment didn't work and what's more, had a number of alarming side effects.

This piece blends drama with interview to explore the legacy of that controversial therapy.
