Elisabeth Schwarzkopf was one of the greatest singers of the 20th Century, equally famous for her Strauss and Mozart on the operatic stage as for her Wolf and Schubert on the concert platform.

In celebration of her 90th year, Iain Burnside presents BBC Radio 3's tribute to her life and artistry, including extracts from some of her recordings with lively discussion and debate from Mary King, Jeremy Sams and Edward Seckerson.

Includes excerpts from:

Schubert: Die Vögel, Liebhaber in allen Gestalten, Das Lied im Grünen, Erlkönig

Strauss: Es gibt ein Reich (Ariadne auf Naxos)

Puccini: Si, mi chiamano Mimi (La Boheme)
