Eating Children

Rose is glamorous and fun.

She is bringing up Anna by herself and works very hard at being a good mother.

Their domestic life is focused on the kitchen where they cook special recipes from the Red Book, a family heirloom that has been passed down from generation to generation.

While Rose cooks she sings along to Doris Day and for both mother and daughter the world is a safe and happy place where the Big Bad Wolf is a long way from the door and fairy tales can come true.

But nothing lasts forever and when Anna grows up and wants to leave home to go to university she discovers that Rose has powerful weapons - a shard of glass in her heart and a gin and tonic always at hand.

This is a battle of wills and Anna has to find the magic spells that will allow her to escape from her mother.
