Easter Folk - The Decemberists

Spend Good Friday in the company of Colin Meloy, erudite leader of the Decemberists, as he makes his DJ debut on BBC Radio 6 Music.

We asked Colin to put together an Easter-themed programme and boy did he oblige. Expect to hear his favourite psych and folk mashed together in to a decadent Easter mix, including tunes from the Watersons, Shirley Collins, the Grateful Dead, the Unthanks, and Kevin Ayers.

If you stick around after the two hour duration of this programme then you will also hear another three hours of BBC archive live music and old BBC documentaries, hand picked by Colin Meloy for your enjoyment. It really is an Easter Friday to be spent by the radio, curled up on the sofa at home. With a loved one. If you are lucky enough to have one. If not, Colin can be your man.

Colin's group The Decemberists are a Grammy-nominated indie folk rock outfit from Portland, Oregon. They have released seven albums of real beauty, including 2015's 'What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World'.
