Crackerjack!

From a Wednesday in 1955 to a Friday in 1984, BBC Childrens Television produced one of the most popular childrens' programmes ever: Crackerjack! It first arrived on our screens on September 9th 1955 with presenter Eamonn Andrews and guests including Joe Baker, Jack Douglas, The Balloon Man and The Harry Parry Sextet.

It soon became hugely popular, and in 1961 Queen Elizabeth was presented with Crackerjack! pencils for Anne and Charles and an Andy Pandy doll for Andrew (Edward, not yet being a twinkle...}

This tribute features comedy sketches, performances from some of the stars who made an appearance on the show as well as interviews with past presenters and performers including Michael Aspel, Ed Stewart, Stu Francis, The Krankies and Don MacLean.

Janet Ellis presents this affectionate look back with the help of former presenters and performers and lots and lots of children shouting Crackerjack!.
