Bob Harris presents highlights of the annual Country Music Association Awards in this, their 50th year. He broadcasts live from Music Row in Nashville and looks back on the spectacular 50th birthday celebrations held at Music City's Bridgestone Arena.

This year's nominations are dominated by country rock favourite Eric Church, rising star Maren Morris, and soulful traditionalist Chris Stapleton. In this two-hour show Bob presents a round-up of the winners, best performances (from artists including Garth Brooks with Trisha Yearwood, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, and Kacey Musgraves) and backstage interviews.

This show is the finale to a week of Country music programmes on Radio 2, including a look back at some of the best live performances from five decades of CMA awards and a three-hour live show presented by Patrick Kielty on the day of the awards, in which he speaks to some of this year's nominees, and important figures from 50 years of CMA awards history. He's also joined by a resident house band who provide the soundtrack to the show, and Patrick plays some the hottest new music coming out of Nashville.

Camaron Ochs, known simply as Cam, is also a guest. Her song' Burning House' from her debut album 'Untamed' is nominated in the Song and video categories at this year's awards.

The most nominated artist in 2016 is female vocalist Maren Morris. Her hit song 'My Church' is nominated for single and song of the year, and Patrick catches up with her on the eve of the CMA awards to talk about her incredible year.

Live in the studio is house band The Mavericks who perform some of their hits live and also country classics from across the decades.

He's also out and about in Nashville, exploring the Country Music Hall Of Fame and Museum to find out more about the history of Music City and how it all began. Patrick Kielty is live from Nashville, USA as the city gets ready for the biggest night in country music - the CMA Awards 2015.

He's joined by Grammy Award winning country star Kacey Musgraves to talk about her new album 'Pageant Material', and being nominated for three CMA Awards this year.

Patrick visits one of the most iconic institutions of the city - the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium, the longest running live radio programme in US history. It's the show that made country music famous, with live music from icons and new stars. As it celebrates 90 years of being on the air Patrick makes a guest appearance on stage alongside host Bill Cody.

On his travels Patrick also visits Nashville's new Mayor, Megan Barry, to find out more about the city that's home to country music for fans all over the world. Patrick also drops in to see multi-award winning vocal group Little Big Town and try his hand at some Southern Cooking with Kimberly Schlapman, who hosts her own show on the Cooking Channel.

There's also a very special House Band live in the studio fronted by honky tonk musician Rachael Hester; playing some of the biggest country hits of all time.

And Radio 2's very own Bob Harris will be on hand to give his opinion on this year's CMA Award nominees.
