Featuring Haydn's Lark Quartet - considered to have one of the most joyous openings the composer ever wrote for quartet. That's followed by a rarely-performed, Bach-inspired work by Charles Koechlin, a pupil of Faure in Paris, and then a cantata by Bach himself. The programme concludes with a work by Mozart performed by period performance specialists La Stagione Frankfurt.

Penny Gore presents the conclusion of Poro, re dell'Indie, as part of Radio 3's complete cycle of Handel operas.

Queen Cleofide thinks Poro is dead, and is about to marry Alexander the Great. Poro appears at the wedding ceremony just in time to save the couple from making a big mistake, and in relief at his escape, Alexander doesn't kill anyone. But will Poro and Cleofide live happily ever after?
