The story of an unusual expedition
Last July a group of 16 blind people led by David Scott Blackball set out to climb Ben Nevis , the highest mountain in Britain. The police warned them of the dangers of such an expedition: local people considered it foolhardy, and only a few young climbers agreed to accompany the party. The weather during the ascent was terrible, but the blind climbers were determined to get to the summit.
RON NEIL , who accompanied the party, tells the story of the ascent, illustrated by recordings he made as they climbed up the mountainside.
