He also has a compulsive need for order and routine.

Already as a baby, his parents found themselves confronted with an infant who cried almost constantly.

As Daniel faces secondary school, he excels at maths, languages and history because of his extraordinary memory, but has difficulty finding his way about.

He also gets the opportunity to meet fellow savant, Kim Peek, who was the inspiration for the Raymond Babbitt character played by Dustin Hoffman in the film, Rain Man.

It turns out to be one of the happiest days of Daniel's life.
