In 'Disco Origins' - the first programme of this new sextet of shows - Ana explores the evolution of the genre. Disco emerged from a melting pot of sounds, combining soul, jazz, funk and rhythms from Latin America and Africa. The artists featured tonight include American soul greats James Brown, Donny Hathaway and Bill Withers, Philadelphia's funk band People's Choice, Mulatu Astatke from Ethiopia and the Afro-Caribbean band Osibisa.

Artists featured tonight include Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra, the Salsoul Orchestra, the Soul Sensation Orchestra and Cerrone with the epic 'Love In C Minor'.

But she will also be 'diving into obscurity to resurrect tracks lost in time' by artists such as Charisma, Celi Bee and the Buzzy Bunch and Lizzy Mercier Descloux.

As she says, 'We're back in the dark mines of disco, digging out tracks that have slipped through the cracks of time and polishing off gems often overlooked, but guaranteed to get you moving'. The rarities include discs by Crown Heights Affair, Bohannon, Eddie Kendricks and C.J. and Co's 'Devil's Gun' - the first record played at Studio 54 in 1977.
