Perplexed, Phoebe is left on her own as apologetic Kate hurries off. Phoebe finds Delia at the craft fair. Delia's surprised that Kate left Phoebe on her own, but cheers Phoebe up by letting her run the stall for a bit. Kate joins Johan, realising he just needed help with some work and it wasn't urgent at all - she's still pleased to see him though. As Phoebe grumbles about Kate, Mandisa persuades Phoebe to log on to her Mum's online shopping account. Kate says she and the kids are staying where they are, but angry Lucas reminds Kate that they made a deal - it's his turn to develop his career. Lucas storms off leaving Kate alone sobbing. Kate phones her mum Jennifer back in England and Jennifer admits understanding Lucas's point of view - she suggests they reach a compromise. Kate should often stick to her principles, but this is just not one of those times. Michael and Delia fondly note Phoebe's selling skills, although even she can't shift Kate's pottery, which Kate suggested asking a high price for. Milton gives Phoebe a big brother talk, which she misinterprets, launching herself at him with a kiss. Milton points out that he's with Nkosi, Mandisa'a older sister. Mandisa spots Kate and Johan moving through the bar. Phoebe's horrified to see them together and hurries outside. Crazed Phoebe grabs a Jack from Milton's car. Unimpressed Lucas asks Kate about their affair. She finally admits the truth. Wounded Lucas can't believe Kate's ingratitude. Kate defends herself passionately but admits being stupid and selfish. Kate's relieved to hear from Mandisa, until she realises Phoebe hasn't arrived at Mandisa's. Kate tells Lucas that Phoebe knows about her affair. Kate's frantic, as Lucas gets a worried text from Phoebe. Lucas briefs Kate on what to do and heads out to find Phoebe. Meanwhile, the driver tries to reassure Phoebe and points out his 'protection' - a baseball bat. When asked to take Phoebe back to Melville, the driver gets angry. Lucas keeps Kate on the line, and approaches the driver who demands his money. The scene explodes with the driver reaching for his bat. Lucas covers the truth, and gets Phoebe to back him up. Later, Delia tries to give Kate a talking to about her family and their future. However, Kate reinforces the fact that Delia doesn't know what's going on. Lucas comforts emotional Phoebe, who's finding it hard to say goodbye. She feels awful that she caused Lucas to be in danger. Kate approaches Phoebe and tries to apologise and explain herself. Phoebe doesn't want to hear and tells Kate she should try to do the right thing for a change - rather than just use words. Kate tells Lucas she has quit college... and Johan. All she wants now is to be with her family. She promises to devote herself - if Lucas agrees to forgive her. Phoebe stuns Kate by asking Lucas to drive her to the airport alone. Lance cheers her up by cooking everyone dinner and opening the wine. As they bond over the washing up, Lance and Jolene discuss the sailing trip. When he mentions how busy Mel and Kenton will be as sailors, Jolene quickly goes to Kenton and insists that Lance joins them on the trip, in order for Jolene to get time with Kenton. Lilian finally leaves and finds a worried Matt who sees she's been crying. He's desperate to get her to open up and confess what's on her mind. Lilian changes the subject, causing Matt to storm off saying it's pointless even being in Tivat - they may as well be home in Ambridge. Back in the hotel room, Lilian accuses Matt of not being there for her, an argument escalates and Matt finally explodes. He knows she was sleeping with his brother Paul. Matt hasn't got time to listen and abruptly ends the call. At an upmarket art gallery, Vitaly's weary minder tries to call him away to accept a phone call from his Father. Meanwhile, Matt meets an enigmatic Russian woman called Tatyana, who's rather cool with Vitaly. Vitaly whisks Matt away after embarrassing him over some artwork that Matt has been bluffing his way through describing to Tatyana. She still appears rather taken with Matt though, offering him her card. Brenda takes notes, not entirely sure what it is Matt wants from her as his 'PA'. Brenda bumps into a friendly Russian employee on her way back from the toilet. After directing Brenda back to the board room, the man politely calls Vitaly away for a second and they speak in Russian. Vitaly later takes Matt to a Banya to discuss the project further: Vitaly has another, better prospect for Matt, from which Matt could make up to a 75% return: better than any consultancy fee. He's a junior architect. He's funny and charming, and convinces Brenda to come sightseeing. Lilian has hired a temp but is still struggling on without Matt. Matt plays dumb about Brenda's whereabouts, with Lilian assuming she's on a jolly. Matt pointedly suggests Lilian tries to sweet talk Brenda - people need respect if you don't want to lose them. Matt reveals that he's cut a good deal in a little factory investment. Lilian's thrown when she learns Matt's using his offshore money - they always agreed to decide how to use that money together. With the case of cash cuffed to his wrist, Matt gets back into the cab which has waited for him. The taxi's stopped by a police officer, who Matt has to bribe to get him off his back. Brenda's not at the hotel as instructed. Vitaly convinces Matt he doesn't need Brenda and they go to his bank. Meanwhile Brenda sees she's missed a call from Matt. When Matt returns to his hotel he finds that he and Brenda have also been checked out, with his room bill paid by Kedrov Holdings. Matt tries to book another room but none of his cards works. He phones Lilian to find out what's going on and she tells him she has stopped his access to the business accounts, which he has been using to fund his own private deal. Lilian softens when she hears the distress in Matt's voice, but he refuses to tell her what's going on, simply barking at her to restore his cards. Lilian grows angry at his refusal to explain and puts the phone down on him. Matt's stranded. Dmitry secretly phones Tatyana before telling Brenda that 'a friend' has told him what's happened to Matt. Brenda's beside herself with worry for Matt but Dmitry assures her Matt's friends must be helping him get out. They just need to wait for news. Tatyana arrives with papers for Matt's release. She gives him his belongings as he marvels that she's an angel. In Tatyana's car, Matt explains that business partner Vitaly has gone AWOL. When Matt reveals he deposited his money into a strong box, Tatyana decides to take Matt straight to someone who'll know exactly where Vitaly is. Brenda's relieved to see Matt, who meets Dmitry and has a feeling they've met before. Soon after Dmitry leaves, Leonid Kedrov enters and reintroduces himself as the man who directed Brenda to Vitaly's office the other week. He's the managing director of Kedrov Holdings and Vitaly, his son, has unfortunately been arrested. Vitaly's in prison as they speak. Brenda searches for a tea towel but finds a box with a diamond in. Puzzled Dmitry says it must belong to the man he's house-sitting for, so she puts it back. Leonid has bad news for Matt: his deposited money has been withdrawn. Matt shows Leonid his bank receipt, which Leonid reveals is a fake. Leonid sympathetically says sometimes you have to just walk away from a business deal. Desperate Matt reveals this was no small investment: not to him. Vitaly arrives, his father having secured his release from prison. He tells Matt that he had to move his money quickly in order to clinch the deal. Matt's angry and hurls himself at Vitaly. Vitaly gave his money to his contact, but now the contact has gone missing and the dangerous people who have the money have used intimidation to cut them out of the deal. Leonid apologises to Matt but he can't bail his son out again: if Matt wants to prosecute, Leonid won't stand in his way. Leonid later warns Matt not to pursue the man who has his and Vitaly's money. Leonid has booked Matt a flight home and advises him to take it - and accept his loss. He admits he's so angry to have been played for a fool. The last time he felt so angry, someone died and maybe in some indirect way he caused it. Vitaly arrives with the car as Brenda and Matt share a goodbye hug. Brenda visits Tatyana at work, keen to know more about Tatyana's job and new opportunities herself. Brenda wonders if Dmitry would want to be as high flying as Tatyana, and she also mentions Dmitry wanting to take her to their parents' place in Georgia. Tatyana seems a bit thrown, but comes around before making her excuses that work is very busy right now. Brenda leaves. Tatyana calls Dmitry and they talk in Russian. On the way to the airport Matt discovers Vitaly and his contact signed a contract. Matt realises Vitaly has the contract with him and grabs it off him. The man whose name is on it is of course now dead according to Vitaly. Vitaly assures Matt that going home is the safest option. They say goodbye at the airport, Matt refusing to shake Vitaly's hand. As soon as Vitaly has gone Matt hails a cab back to St Petersburg. Dmitry's convinced by Brenda to share with Matt what he knows about Vitaly's contact Nikolai Babarin, whose name was on Matt's contract. He gives Matt the contact's business address, but advises him not to go there. Matt goes and worried Brenda convinces Dmitry to follow him in his car. Matt discovers a trashed office. A woman there, a secretary he presumes, nervously asks Matt to leave. She admits the last time she saw Nicolai he was going to the factory site. Matt leaves and sees Brenda and Dmitry. He's going to the site, and Brenda insists on going with him. Dmitry's worried for Brenda so reluctantly drives them. The site is a village with ramshackle houses. Matt approaches a drunk old farmer who's reluctant to talk. Dmitry translates. The man's angry that no one cares for them and that foreigners buy the land from under them. Dmitry explains that the whole village is terrified. Before Matt can glean any more, Brenda spots a black four by four at the top of the road. Dmitry insists they leave immediately. When she makes it clear to Dmitry that she has a head for business, Dmitry offers to invest her money in a new deal, claiming he will guarantee it. Brenda laughs that she only has £500, but Dmitry says that's fine. Matt tells Lilian Robin wants to meet him tomorrow. Lilian assures him that he has Amside and everything's going well with it at the moment. Matt's sad that he's let everything he had slip away. Lilian assures him he is the man she wants: she has never stopped loving him. They go back to Matt's hotel room. Matt's horrified to discover his window is wide open: he's sure he shut it. There's also a teddy bear on the bed. He covers that he bought the bear for Lilian. As they kiss Matt's overcome by anxiety and tells Lilian he can't. Lilian understands: it's too soon. She wants to stay though. Later, a distraught Matt tells Lilian Robin's lawyers deem his contract to be worthless: the names on the contract are those of dead children, stolen identities. Lilian says it's time to go home. Dmitry discovers that Nikolai (Vitaly's 'contact') has been found dead just outside of St Petersburg. Dmitry privately tells Matt of this, also telling him not to trust Robin who seems to be some kind of partner in the property development deal. Tatyana convinces Matt to let her take a copy of his contract, claiming she's an international lawyer. She advises him not to pursue it any longer: she will be in contact. When Matt and Lilian return to Matt's hotel room, Matt's horrified to see his room has been trashed. Lilian thinks housekeeping are terrible but it's clearly more intimidation. Matt hurriedly retrieves Nikolai's phone and tells Lilian to look after it, saying it belonged to someone else involved in the deal. He packs his suitcase as a bemused Lilian watches on. Then she can see if there really is a link between the deal and his death. Robin and Leonid talk: it becomes clear they are working together. Leonid tells Robin to deal with Matt. Brenda asks Dmitry if he is the one who is pushing everyone off their land on the development site in Russia and if he is threatening Matt. He says not, and that he wants in on the development so he can rehouse those people properly. Dmitry tells her he'll explain everything later: he loves her, she trusts him right? Brenda phones Lilian upset and asking if she can stay with her. Meanwhile Matt and Lilian argue about him going to Inverness. Matt says he wants to try to get his money back via Robin and to go home. Lilian however thinks he is going off to be with Tatyana. Tired, Matt just tells her to leave and think what she likes. Brenda reveals Matt's being intimidated: it happened in St Petersburg too. Brenda also reveals how Nikolai has been found dead. Lilian panics, her poor Matt has been in danger and she has been accusing him of having an affair. She has to help him. Lilian resolves to get the mobile back despite Brenda's warnings. Meanwhile in Scotland, Matt's busy trying to get more information out of Robin regarding his contract and the deal. He plays the big businessman, telling Robin he uses Lilian's business in order to launder his own deals and claiming he's getting the forensic report on Nikolai's death. Robin panics and calls Leonid, claiming he thinks Matt is the one leading the hostile takeover. Leonid tells Robin to sort Matt out. The next day on the shoot, Robin points his gun at Matt and tells him to call his broker and call off the deal. Matt has no idea what he's talking about but when his phone rings he answers and pretends it's his broker. It's actually Tatyana and in front of Robin Matt improvises and tells her to call off the hostile takeover. Tatyana realises he is with Robin and in danger. She tells him to drive to Inverness airport as soon as he can and she will arrange a plane. She adds that his contract is worth 8% of the development and tells him not to give it to anyone. When Matt comes off the phone Robin tells him he'd better not be lying: Lilian is going to arrive at Leonid's about now and if they find out he hasn't told the truth... Matt walks away from him, trying to remain calm. Then he receives a call from a distressed Lilian telling him to get to Leonid's. Brenda goes to Dmitry and asks for his help. Dmitry speaks to Tatyana in Russian and goes to help Matt. At Leonid's, Dmitry and Matt enter together. Seeing Lilian in danger, Matt tears up his contract - he doesn't want the money. Leon isn't buying this and asks Matt about the rest of the deal he is trying to take over. Dmitry steps in, declaring he is the one initiating the takeover and that as they speak his sister Tatyana is buying the rest of the shares: it's over. Leonid goes crazy, screaming and smashing up the room, as Dmitry, Matt and an hysterical Lilian flee the house. The next morning Brenda tells Dmitry she will not be going to Russia to work with him but tells him she will treasure the memories he has given her forever. Dmitry is devastated but gives her a gift to remember him by: the diamond they saw when they first met. Meanwhile Matt wakes up with an amorous Lilian who thanks him for giving up the whole deal and potentially a lot of money to save her. When Matt realised she was in danger he realised none of the past mattered: she risked everything for him. He tells her she's the bravest woman he's ever known. Lilian realises she has her old Tiger back...
