2009 [The Great British Songbook]

Legendary DJ Tony Blackburn and sixties Pop Princess Cilla Black look at the Great British Songbook of the 60s. Over three hours, Tony and Cilla take a trip down memory lane as they play the best British songs from this decade, including suggestions from Radio 2 listeners. With a playlist that includes the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cliff Richard and Dusty Springfield they reflect the work of some of Britain's greatest songwriters and share their own memories from the 60s.

Tony Blackburn and Cilla Black kick off a week of programmes where British artists and DJs reflect on the Great British Songbook of each decade from the 1960s to the 2000s.

The Great British Songbook is Radio 2's celebration of the work of British songwriters by creating a collection of their finest songs and holding exclusive masterclasses with some of Britain's top lyricists. More information on Radio 2's Great British Songbook, videos of artists performing their versions of Great British songs and message board discussions can be found at BBC.co.uk/radio 2
